OpenClaw Pro - How to connect Telegram

How to connect Telegram

Connecting Telegram requires creating a Telegram bot using BotFather. This takes about 2 minutes.

Step 1 — Create a bot with BotFather

  1. Open Telegram and search for @BotFather.
  2. Start a chat with BotFather and send the command: /newbot
  3. BotFather will ask for a name for your bot — this is the display name customers will see (e.g. Acme Support).
  4. Then it will ask for a username — this must end in bot and be unique (e.g. AcmeSupportBot).
  5. BotFather will reply with your bot token — a long string like 123456789:ABCdefGHI.... Copy it.

Step 2 — Enter the token in your dashboard

  1. Open your OpenClaw configuration dashboard.
  2. Click Communication Channels to expand it.
  3. Click Telegram to expand it.
  4. Paste the bot token into the Bot token field.
  5. Click Connect Telegram.

The Telegram badge will change to Connected once the token is saved. Your customers can now message your bot on Telegram and receive AI-powered replies.

Testing

Search for your bot by its username in Telegram and send it a message. It should reply automatically once your AI Brain is also configured.

Pricing

Telegram bots are free. You only pay for the AI provider that powers the replies.
